How Implenia Norway unlocked the value of their field reports with Dalux and LogiqApps

Industry: Construction and Infrastructure
Technology Stack: Azure.NETDalux
Challenge
In Implenia Norway, hundreds of people work every day to build complex infrastructure for future generations, throughout Norway:
- In the north: building Engeløya bridge.
- In the west: the world’s longest subsea tunnel for cars, E6 Rogfast.
- In the east, expanding the subway system in Oslo with the long awaited Fornebubanen.
These, and other projects in Implenia’s portfolio use Dalux to track everything from production quality to the latest readings from water sensors protecting the environment around the site. Every week, thousands of data points are input by Implenia’s teams, together forming the ground truth for the status of each project.

Solution
To move from data capture to data insight, Implenia Norway partnered with LogiqApps to build an integration hub capable of extracting data from Dalux in real time to Implenia’s project platform built on Azure and Microsoft 365.
In addition to standard data points, the Integration hub handles images and attachments added to the incoming field reports. These are automatically tagged with metadata from the reports, allowing office workers to easily shift through the tens of thousands of documents produced as part of a civil engineering project.

Key Results
The integration hub was a strategic investment from Implenia Norway to unlock the power of their data. With the new tools in hand, engineers are now automating reports that before were done by hand. Data validation rules ensure that information impacting financial or quality metrics are more accurate than ever. Implenia’s office workers spend less time on manual transfer and tagging of files between systems. Further, the near real time nature of the data allows line managers to follow production status whether they’re in the office, traveling, or deep underground.
Implenia estimates that it will see a positive result from this initiative on an order of 20 MNOK per year due to:
- Productivity increases through automation of mundane tasks.
- Improved data quality in reports used in invoicing.
- Actionable insights through near real time reporting from the field.
- Better performance of new projects due to more accessible and comparable data.
- Improved project margins due to improved claims management driven by more structured and available documentation.
- More secure and efficient project closure due to improved document handling.
The solution is designed as a highly modular, scalable architecture using the latest technology on the Microsoft Azure platform, such as Azure Durable Functions.
